Pounding Grooves aka Lawrie Immersion

Lawrie zaczynał swoją muzyczną przygodę mając 16 lat grając na gitarze i pisząc piosenki dla różnych kapel, występując w całej Europie. Z czasem przestał grywać na gitarze aby przerzucić swoją pasję na perkusję co w niedługim czasie zaprowadziło go do zapoznania z maszynkami perkusyjnymi i syntezatorami basowymi. Przez ten cały czas Lawrie zbudował swój własny 20 K JBL sound system oraz rozwijał swoje umiejętności jako inżynier dźwięku, pracując z rozmaitymi grupami, z czasem zaprzestając współpracy z kapelami na rzecz rosnącej w siłę sceny rave.

Immersion sound system był jednym z największych systemów w tamtych latach (połowa lat 90) i miał niemały wpływ na rozwój londyńskiej sceny underground i nie tylko wędrując z tonami sprzętu po takich krajach jak: Holandia, Włochy, Francja, Polska, promując ciężkie brzemienia.

Wtedy właśnie powstaje jego pierwsze studio, które znajdowało się na górze dwupoziomowego typowego angielskiego autobusu, co zaowocowało wydaniem jego pierwszych vinylowych krążków.
Do dziś Lawrie wydał około 150 płyt pod przeróżnymi pseudonimami i czasem anonimowo w wielu wytwórniach, swoich własnych : Pounding Grooves, Routmaster Records, Pattern Play, Fresh Grind, Shark, Fukt, oraz innych: Hydraulix, Fine Audio Recordings, Planet Rhythm, Tortured, CLR, SUF, Subvert, Max/Min.

W późnych latach 90-tych Lawrie zaczyna interesować się „masteringiem” płyt vinylowych. W 2000 roku otwiera Curve Pusher, firmę zajmującą się profesjonalnym masteringiem i inżynierią dźwięku. Z czasem wiele znanych wytwórni zaczyna współpracę z Lawrie’m i jego firma pozyskuje reputację jednej z najlepszych w branży. Jak zwykle Lawrie szukając nowego zajęcia rok później wraz z grupą przyjaciół otwierają Curve Pressing, jedną z najbardziej znanych tłoczni płyt vinylowych na świecie.

Pounding Grooves aka Lawrie Immersion

Lawrie started in the music scene at the age of 16 playing guitar and song writing in various bands, gigging all over Europe. He began to play the drums and his passion moved from guitaring to drumming which, after a while, led into sequencing drum machines and bass synthesisers and drumming over the top in a dub band. During this time Lawrie had built up a 20K JBL sound system and developed his skills as a sound engineer working with various bands including his own on the festival scene.

The Immersion sound system became involved in warehouse parties in London about 10 years ago, with this Lawrie moved from being a sound engineer for and working with bands to being the sound engineer at raves and building up his studio (the first being on the top of a double decker bus). Here he began producing music using only programmable electronic instruments and as soon as he bought his first 909 he began releasing records.

The parties were incredibly popular and his sound system became a big and influential part in the development of the London underground techno scene, as did his unique talent at producing techno, djing and playing his machines live. The Immersion Sound System was also well known for parties in Holland with some thrown in France, Italy and Poland.

To date Lawrie has released around 150 records under a variety of pseudonyms and sometimes anonymous on various different labels including his own Pounding Grooves(of which he produced all, with occasional collaborations), Routemaster Records, Patten Play, Fresh Grind, Shark, Fukt and other labels such as Fine Audio Recordings, Planet Rhythm, Tortured, CLR, Countdown 2000, SUF, Subvert, Max/Min.

In the late nineties Lawrie became interested in the vinyl mastering and cutting process so in March 2000 opened Curve Pusher, which has a very impressive client base and his reputation as an excellent mastering and cutting engineer is now known across the world. Always seeking new ventures a year later Lawrie along with a group of friends opened a vinyl pressing plant, Curved Pressings, which is also becoming very well known.
